Shameless Plug

I. Love. BYUtv.

And not just because I work there, although working there has educated me about it. But, there are some amazing things that air on BYUtv, and it's so awesome that people outside of Utah can see them. Yes, they air some pretty cheesy stuff (see The Wild Stallion, the Mandie movies, Doc, and Wind at my Back for examples), but they are really trying to get some good new shows going.

For instance, last night they pre-screened a new show that's premiering in a couple weeks. It's called Audio-Files and it's super cool. They follow around up and coming bands. It's shot beautifully, and the music is great. I was introduced to two people I had never heard of that I now love.

Also premiering this April is The Song that Changed My Life (so good!) and Listen (which is part of the 5000 days project, which if you don't know what that is, you should, because it's freaking awesome - 5000daysproject.com). Plus, coming in October is Divine Comedy's new show. And you can't forget classics like American Ride (tehe), Turning Point (so cool), and Story Trek (which I cannot get enough of).

SO, everybody should be aware and should start checking out BYUtv more often, because it's awesome.

May the road always rise to meet your feet, and may the wind be forever at your back.

Editing

I just started a class on Final Cut. For those of you who don't know, Final Cut is a video editing program for Macs. Anyway, I missed the first week because I couldn't add the class until other people dropped it. Now, I feel behind every week, and I have absolutely. no idea. what I'm doing.

Seriously, it gives me a headache just being in that class. I mean, it's seriously interesting, and I think after I get some practice and experience I'll feel better about it, but until then, I am still pretty lost. It's all jargon I only half understand, quick teaching, and not wanting to seem stupid because everyone else has already had some experience.

Although, last class we talked about timecodes for a little, and it was SO EXCITING, because it was FINALLY something I understood and could keep up with. But then it was over.

Everybody wish me luck as I work on my first project. Hopefully I don't screw it up.

In other news, rhinoceros horn cups are apparently worth somewhere around $350,000 to $450,000 if they're carved well and in good shape.

So, I know it's been like FOREVER but....

(three months and six days to be precise)

It's been some crazy, long, exhausting months since I last posted. It's kind of hard to sum all of that up in one post, but I decided to catch up with a Top Ten list, organized not so much by level of importance as by the order in which I thought of them.

TOP TEN THINGS I LEARNED ABOUT MYSELF IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS AND SIX DAYS

10. I am a music junkie. Seriously, I may need an intervention soon. But honestly, what else are you going to do when FYE is having a closeout sale and you got money for your birthday?

9. I absolutely love my job. Nowhere else can I watch cheesy movies, great devotionals, Story Trek (best show you've never heard of), and Celtic Thunder concerts all in one place - and get paid for it!

8. It turns out I like the Spicy Italian Subway sandwich better toasted. Who knew?

7. If you want to have a really fun and satisfying time at an amusement park, go with people who know what they're doing and have a plan.

(As an addendum to this, I like DisneyLand better than DisneyWorld - please don't hate me for it)

(As an addendum to that, after dark - when you're tired and not thinking straight - is the best time to ride Splash Mountain)

6. I do not enjoy the cold as much as I thought I did. In fact, I would much rather live somewhere warm than somewhere that gets super cold.

5. I like The Beatles and Bob Dylan, but I like them better when their music is performed by people who aren't The Beatles or Bob Dylan.

4. It's a good thing my iPod auto-updates because I had no idea Daylight Savings time was last Sunday.

3. Being in an airport makes me want to pay exorbitant amounts of money for a book I don't need and food that isn't worth it.

2. I have been having a lot of weird dreams lately, which is weird not only because the dreams are weird, but because I'm actually having dreams. I never dream. Only lately, that's not true.

1. I cannot wait to spend summer at home. :)

Here's looking at you, kid. Hopefully it won't be another three months before we meet again.
