My Hero

This is a picture of my hero: Lauren Smith.

Today, Justin, Jordan, Brooke, Lauren, and I all went to Heber City for an adventure. We didn't have a hugely exciting adventure, but we did have fun. First, we played in the park for a while and got snow everywhere. Then we went to Dairy Keen and even payed 25 cents to watch the train go to Hogwarts and back a few times. Then we scared Justin and made him run in the cold without his jacket. Then, we get to the real adventure...well, my adventure.

Brooke wanted to make a snow angel, but she didn't want to do it alone, so I agreed to make one with her. At first, it was really fun - really cold, but fun. We plopped onto the snow and spread our arms and legs out and made angels. Then, when we went to sit up, I started shaking my hands to get the snow off when all of a sudden, my class ring went flying off of my hand.

Just so you know, my class ring is one of my favorite possessions. It's a reminder of all the good times I had at Bartow AND Fallon, it's a reminder that I did actually do drama in high school, it's real gold with a green stone, and it has a smiley face on the inside that never fails to make me happy.

SO...needless to say, I was upset. I asked my friends to get out their phones so that I could have light to look for it. We messed up the snow angels trying to dig for it in the snow, and we couldn't find it and I was just about to get really really really sad when all of a sudden, Lauren says, "Hey, could that be it over there?" It was a hold in the snow in the opposite direction we had been looking, but it was my ring!!! I was soooooo happy! My hands were numb for a while and they still kind of hurt a little, and now, she's my hero. She's awesome for many other reasons to0 (spastic garbage bag dancing, times in Cabo, and awesome paninis just to name a few) but tonight she's my hero for saving my ring. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, Lauren. I love you, and not just for saving my ring, promise. Don't blush. :)

Never Judge a Book by its Cover

So...last night, I was trying to come up with some phrases that meant the same thing as "don't judge a book by its cover." I came up with these myself:

"All that glitters is not gold."
"Looks can be deceiving."

I then asked my friends, "What's another way of saying 'looks can be deceiving'?" This was both of their answers:

"Deception can be found in looks."

While I found this hilarious, I chose not to use it in my essay. These answers were honorable mentions:

"A girl isn't a girl until you check her skirt."
"Every beast has a beauty."

As a side note, today I went to a workshop for applying for the Media Arts Major, because you need a workshop because they only accept half of the people that apply, and it's a hard, hard application. I have always been worried about the application, afraid that I wouldn't do good enough to get into the program. After today, I feel better about it and slightly more confident, but I'm still scared as heck.

This morning, a miracle happened

I actually remembered two dreams that I had last night! Usually, I wake up in the morning and either can't remember having dreams at all, or I remember that I had a dream but I can't for the life of me remember what happened.

Anyway, last night my dreams involved my sister's rehearsal for Snow White the Musical, complete with random singing of Italian song that sadly don't exist and bad jokes and a now pastoral Bartow High School. The second half of my dream was much more exciting...and random. I dreamed that my friends and I were all back in Florida at this random "end of January celebration" - there was going to be a countdown and everything. We were all on tv, and special guest stars Ryan Reynolds and Sarah McLachlan were there. Sarah McLachlan and Ryan Reynolds were dating and for some reason she thought that I was trying to steal him (really brain?) so she left, and we were all dancing and having fun, and then she came back all haggard looking claiming that I had beat her up because I was trying to steal her boyfriend, and I had to defend myself, and then suddenly she had pity on me and wasn't mad at me anymore, and then we were all singing this random gospel song that everyone else knew the words to and I didn't, and then I woke up.

I don't understand, but I'm still glad I actually remembered it.
